How To Make Cannabutter the Traditional Way

The first and most crucial step is to bake your cannabis before making the cannabutter. This step is called decarboxylation. Decarbing is a heat-driven process of turning inactive cannabinoids (THCa, CBDa) into active ones (THC, CBD, etc.).
Bake your flower, whatever strain, in an oven for 40 minutes to one hour. The cannabis will need to be rotated every 20 minutes to prevent burning.
You’ll know it is decarbed when the color of the weed changes from a bright green to a darker brownish-green.
It’s essential that you do not overcook your cannabis as it will destroy the terps. Terpenes give weed its smell, flavor, and also medicinal properties.
Now that you have your activated weed, the next step is to cook it on a stovetop. This step is where it starts to get messy and time-consuming.
In an empty glass jar, combine butter and the decarbed flower. Place in a heavy saucepan filled with water. Simmer on low for several hours. You’ll want to stay in the kitchen to check on the mixture every 15 minutes. Never leave the room with the stovetop on.
Once you finish the infusion, place two layers of cheesecloth over a bowl and pour the mixture onto the cheesecloth. You can dispose of the flower and let the liquefied cannabutter cool.
Once cool enough to handle, place in the refrigerator to finish solidifying. If there’s leftover liquid once the butter has been set, separate it from the butter with a knife as it has no use.

How To Make Homemade Cannabutter
Step 1: Always Decarb
Similar to the traditional ways of making cannabutter, you need to decarb your weed. Without doing this, you won’t get a high-quality end product.
Weed contains tetrahydrocannabinol acid (THCA) and cannabidiol acid (CBDA); these are dormant versions of THC and CBD.
Once THCA and CBDA are exposed to heat, they undergo decarboxylation or decarbing. This is a process that transforms THCA and CBDA into THC and CBD.
Using the DecarBox ensures maximum efficiency and reduces the smell of the herb you’re baking.
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. We recommend you to use this time to break up your weed.
Now place them into the DecarBox and let them cook for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 2: Load the MagicalButter Machine
It’s time to infuse your butter with the cannabis you decarbed earlier.
Be sure you are using unsalted butter when infusing your weed. Clarified or ghee butter is best as they have minimal fats and milk, helping with minimum product loss.
