Because Hong Kong is a relatively new strain that is still relatively local to Colorado and the surrounding areas, there is not a lot of growing information available yet.

We do know that this is a rather finicky strain to grow, highly susceptible to molds and mildews and very particular about temperature and moisture levels. Sour Diesel, a parent strain of Hong Kong, is also known for its neediness throughout the entirety of cultivation as well, which has been passed on, genetically, to Hong Kong.

Buds are very dense and compact, vibrant green when on the plant, and have trichomes just dripping, resulting in that sticky resin that users know and love so well. The buds are laden with orange hairs while on the plant which mellow in color to a deep, rich amber when cured.

While it is growing, the combination of Sour Diesel’s pungent, almost diesel smelling aroma mixes with the sweet and fruity scent, very noticeable when you pass by the plant or run your hands through it. The sweet smell dominates though after harvest, covering up much of the more fuel and skunky smell and leaving the user wrapped in a thick cloud of creamy, earthy, fruity goodness. Overall, Hong Kong smells amazing.

We also know that seeds are not yet available at any seed banks or dispensaries, which means that the only way to propagate this beauty is to clone individual plants.

All in all, if you can get your hands on a Hong Kong clone, growing indoors is a much more reliable way to go, because it is possible to monitor, maintain, and control many conditions much more so that if cultivating outdoors.

Tested on 3/21/2016 by Steep Hill Labs, Inc. in California, Hong Kong was found to have 25.12% THC, 2.0% CBD and 9%CBG levels. Cannabinoid activated totals were 27.34%.
