General info

Although classified as a sativa-dominant strain, Chernobyl hits hard to calm both the mind and body. A refreshing citrus and lime define the aromatic characteristics of this strain, while the cerebral effects lift your mind into its happy place and relaxes away all of your worries.

As High Times strain of the year in 2010, the 60/40 sativa-dominant Chernobyl is known for its dreamy, long-lasting effects and its unique lime sorbet odor.

Grow info

When grown appropriately, Chernobyl has an impressive display of colors late in the plant’s life with a potency to match. This is a fast-growing strain which grows very tall, and produces moderate yields. The breeder recommends topping the plant early and training it to stay low. The plant should reach flowering stage in 8-9 weeks. While this plant does well indoors, it absolutely thrives outside.

Seeds are available directly from the breeder, but due to a moderate difficulty, it may not be recommended for novice growers. Prefers lots of sunshine and can produce up to about 14 ounces.

STRAIN TEST

TGA Subcool Genetics offers test results for Chernobyl showing THC percentages averaging around 20%, with minimal amounts of CBD. However, in addition to THC, this strain shows measurable amounts of CBG, CBC, THCV, and CBN.

Perhaps contributing to the uplifting effects of this strain, common terpenes in this strain include myrcene, pinene, and limonene. Myrcene can help increase bio-availability, while pinene and limonene can help boost mood and decrease anxiety.

EFFECTS

Don’t let the name fool you, there’s nothing radioactive about Chernobyl. In fact, Chernobyl has the ability to simply wash away your worries and stress, leaving you with a relaxed mind and body. Happy and uplifting, this strain helps motivate the consumer like a ray of sunshine on a cold day.

This strain comes with the typical list of side effects of most marijuana strains including dry mouth, dry eyes, dizziness, and mild paranoia in some users. However, these side effects are generally mild, and will decrease with tolerance.

With an extremely sweet terpene profile and an ability to help combat a variety of mental disorders, the breeder suggests Chernobyl will “flatline your brain waves” and shut down your worries. A fairly balanced hybrid, this strain offers a variety of effects to help combat a wide range of conditions including chronic pain, depression, fatigue, and stress.

While Chernobyl may be best known for its effect on mental conditions, this strain can also help battle migraines, a loss of appetite, and chronic fatigue. Mildly energetic, the strain is generally recommended for day time use. Overall, Chernobyl may just be the perfect “pick-me-up” for multiple depressive conditions.
