Information

Dairy cannabis infusions work so well because they contain high levels of fats. Unlike cannabutter, or marijuana infused oils, cannabis infused milk doesn’t require any further tinkering. A tall glass of cold cannabis milk is effective, subtle and refreshing.

Yet, the potential of cannabis milk doesn’t stop there. Weed infused milk also makes a great ingredient, taking more conventional recipes to a ‘higher’ level. A splash of milk or cream in your tomato soup, into your baking, or even into your morning coffee just gets that much better with its infused with weed.

Importantly, higher fat content means higher potency. Cannabis is naturally hydrophobic, meaning it clings to fats and its molecules are essentially afraid of water. This hydrophobic nature is why canna butters and oils are the most common ingredient in cannabis infusions. The cannabinoids inherently seek out fatty molecules.

CHOOSING HIGH FAT DAIRY FOR CANNABIS INFUSIONS

Take this point into consideration when you choose your milk product. High fat, whole milk products, work much better than skim or reduced fat dairy products. Although low-fat was the dietary trend from the past, its long since been disproven.

Healthy fats are actually crucial for health and wellness, right down to our very cells. Our brain is after all nearly 60 percent fat, so long as you are feeding yourself healthy fats, like those found in dairy, you are feeding the healthy functioning of your entire body. Some studies have even linked whole fat dairy to lower risk for chronic disease. Although the 90’s programmed us to think fat was evil, this theory has long since died. Healthy fats are back!

CANNABIS MILK POTENCY

Cannabis milk makes an excellent alternative to the more potent cannabis oil infusions. Milk notably has much lower fat content than say olive oil or butter, therefore it naturally absorbs fewer cannabinoids during the infusion process. This lower potency isn’t necessarily a bad thing though!

Sometimes a gentler infusion is an all around better option. Especially if you are using marijuana medicinally, it’s a great idea to have many methods at your disposal. Potent cannabutter goods for the chronic pain management, and canna milk to keep it under control throughout the day.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR CANNA MILK

To get the most out of your cannabis milk recipe, choose high fat, grass fed milk products if available. Depending on if you are making cannabis milk as a standalone drink, or a cannabis ingredient for future recipe, cream is another option.

Finally, keep in mind that unlike oils and butters, milk does have a relatively short expiry date. Be sure to follow the expiry information on the original packaging when you create your cannabis milk infusion.
