General info

Tangerine Dream can only be described as a heavenly hybrid. Medical users delight in its dual-ability to relieve pain whilst providing ample energy to get stuff done. The strain was created by the green-fingered legends at Barney’s Farm using G-13 and Neville’s Haze earning the team several awards including the coveted Cannabis Cup in 2010. It’s delicious taste and citrusy aroma are the cherry on the cake.

Grow info

If grown outdoors this strain will perform best in a warm climate with as much light as possible. For those of you living in colder climates, an indoor set-up is advisable or even, a hydroponic set-up if you want to maximise your sweet tasty haul. The flowering period is expected to take between 8-10 weeks, however, make sure you allocate yourself some extra time for trimming. These buds can get particularly sticky! Under the right conditions, both indoor and outdoor growers can expect 15-18 ounces per plant (420g – 504g) during harvest.

FLAVORS

Like many citrus strains, Tangerine Dream flaunts orange hairs and can produce lots of trichomes on it’s well proportioned (and surprisingly heavy) buds. It’s an aesthetically pleasing flower that screams high THC content for obvious reasons. It smells like a tangerine and a Sativa strain made love and had a baby which can make it difficult to turn away from at your local dispensary. Once smoked or vaped, you can expect to taste sugary fruity goodness right away with a zesty and slightly tangy aftertaste. This pleasant combination makes it a favorite for people looking to experiment.

STRAIN TEST

A 2016 test conducted by Analytical 360 found a THC percentage of 21.33% with 0.22% CBD. This, of course, varies on a case by case basis, however, a healthy harvest can expect between 20-25% on the THC front. This test also found terpenes come in at 0.29% overall with the main influencers being Humulene (0.12%) and Caryophyllene (0.17).
In 2015 Analytical 360 found the next results when testing Tangerine Dream:

EFFECTS

Productive stoners assemble! This strain is dead handy for alleviating pain and stress whilst also giving you that boost you need to tick off that to-do list. You can expect an immersive head high with new ideas popping in to say hello if you are lucky. For those of you struggling to concentrate Tangerine Dream can also help you to focus on the task at hand which is a nice bonus.

It might not pack the pain destroying punch that some Indicas do however, it still provides a significant amount of relief for pain and stress whilst not sticking you to the couch. This is a big plus for medical patients who have to work or take care of others.

Of course, you might get a dry mouth and if used excessively, there is a chance of headaches. Aside from that, it’s regarded as a reliable strain by the community. As genetic knowledge and expertise grow alongside the emerging legal industry, we can hope to see more benefits and fewer side effects overall.
